Arms around its knees and ears like two round pancakes. The koala squishy looks like it just woke up and isn't quite ready for the day yet.

Why does the koala feel fuzzy?

Its grey coat is flocked. That gives the surface a soft and slightly velvety touch under your fingertips. Underneath sits squishy TPR that gives way when you press the tummy and pops back right after.

How heavy is the koala squishy?

About 100 g. It fills one hand nicely and sits steady on a shelf. The maker doesn't give its height, and we won't guess.

Small details worth a closer look

A black button nose. Tiny black claws on the paws. Fans of Australian animals get a sleepy roommate for the bookshelf here, one that never asks for eucalyptus. It's still a squishy at heart, made for squeezing rather than cuddling all night.

Keeping the velvet coat nice

The flocked coat doesn't like a soaking. Dab it with a slightly damp cloth and let it dry in the air, out of direct sun and well away from the radiator.

The koala has plenty of company in our squishy animals.
