No pineapple went into this pineapple bun squishy. The slow rising foam bun gets its name from the crust, which is scored into a pattern that looks a bit like pineapple skin.

Which size should you pick?

Three versions, two sizes. The golden 8 cm bun is the small one, with a light cross pattern and about 24.5 g of weight. It's roughly as wide as a muffin top and nearly disappears in a closed hand.

The 12 cm buns are a different story. They stand 7.5 cm high and weigh about 78 g. Their crust is bumpy and checked, in green or dark brown, and one of them covers most of a saucer.

How does the foam feel?

Soft, with a lazy comeback. Press your thumb deep into the crust and the dent hangs around for a moment before the bun fills it in again. The maker gives no seconds, so count along yourself.

Sizes	8 cm (3.1 in) golden, 12 cm (4.7 in) green or brown
Height of the big bun	7.5 cm (3 in)
Weight	about 24.5 g or 78 g
Material	PU foam, slow rising

Anyone who collects bread squishies will like it as a stocking filler. The small and the big bun look funny side by side, like a parent and kid at the bakery counter.

Keeping the crust clean

Foam soaks up water and dries slowly. So dab it with a damp cloth and let it air dry. Store it loose instead of squashed at the bottom of a drawer, and keep it away from the radiator.
