Squishy safety for parents

Squishies are toys for children aged 3 and up. Most are made of soft foam (PU) or a rubbery material (TPR). This is what we'd tell any parent who asks us.

Age and small parts

Our squishies are meant for children from 3 years. Younger kids put things in their mouths, and a squishy can tear or a small piece like a keychain can come off. Keep minis and keychain squishies away from babies and toddlers.

Gel and oil fillings

Some squishies are filled with gel, coconut oil or maltose. That's what makes them so slow and stretchy. Don't bite them, cut them or poke holes in them. If one tears or leaks, throw it away, wash your hands and write to us.

The new smell

A fresh squishy often smells of paint or plastic when it comes out of the bag. Let it air out for a day or two by an open window before your child plays with it. The smell usually fades in that time.

Heat and cold

Squishies don't belong in the microwave, the freezer or the oven. Keep them off the heater and out of hot cars and strong sun. Heat can make foam crumble and fillings can expand.

Cleaning

Wipe a squishy with a slightly damp cloth and let it dry in the air. Don't soak foam squishies in water. They take ages to dry and can lose their shape.

What we don't sell

Squishies with water bead or sand fillings don't come into the Vault. Neither do copies of famous brands or characters. Squishies with water beads have been recalled more than once and we'd rather leave them out completely.

We also don't print test seals or words like “non-toxic” on a product unless we have papers to back it up. If you have a question about a specific squishy, write to support@squishyvault.com and we'll tell you what we know about it.
