Sushi Paper Squishy Template, Salmon Nigiri

The sushi paper squishy template is a salmon nigiri, an orange slice of salmon lying on a white block of rice, free to print. The face sits on the rice. Its rounded rectangle shape is easy to cut.

Quick answer

Print at 100 % and colour the salmon orange with light stripes. Tape both halves, cut them out and join them back to back with narrow tape. Stuff the rice block evenly. Keep it away from kids under three, and let an adult cut.

Salmon on a block of rice

Sushi squishies are one of our kawaii favourites, so the nigiri got a paper version in the second PDF. It's a wide, low shape.

The salmon has pale diagonal stripes like a real cut. The rice below is white with tiny grain marks on the back. A pink blush on each cheek finishes the face.

Because everything is rounded, there's nothing fiddly. Even the small size is fine for careful kids.

Rolling out the nigiri

  1. Print at actual size and colour the salmon orange. Leave thin stripes white.
  2. Draw a few rice grains on the back half with a light grey pencil.
  3. Tape both halves fully and cut along the outer edge of the grey border.
  4. Join them back to back with short strips of narrow tape.
  5. Stuff through a gap in the rice part and close it with one strip.

The salmon should sit a little higher than the rice. A bit more filling at the top does that. Read the paper squishy guide for the full method, and find an onigiri in the template collection.

FAQ

How big is the sushi template?

The big nigiri is 9 x 5 cm and the small one 6 x 4 cm, grey border included.

Can I make other sushi from it?

Yes. Colour the topping red for tuna or yellow for egg on the outline page. The shape stays the same.

How long does a paper sushi last?

It depends on how often it gets squeezed. With daily squishing it looks worn after a few days, and on a shelf it lasts much longer.
