Viral Squishies 2026 and the Numbers Behind Them

The viral squishies of autumn 2026 are butter sticks and crunchy ones, while dumplings had their big moment in early summer. We pick our range from these numbers, so we watch them closely. Here are the squishy trends of 2026 with a date next to every figure.

Quick answer

Worldwide searches for squishies hit their high in the week of 20 to 26 September 2026, about eleven times the level of a year before. Butter and crunchy carried that wave. Dumplings came first and are calmer now. Highland cows and capybaras were the animals that grew fastest over the summer.

Four squishy types keep coming up in search data and in short videos. The table puts the strongest signal for each next to it, because a trend can turn within a month.

Trend Signal with date One of ours
Butter 88 % of its own high in late Sept. 2026 (Google Trends, worldwide); one moldable butter stick video reached 39 million views in June jumbo butter stick, 24 cm
Crunchy 95 % of its own high in late Sept. 2026 crunchy peanut
Dumpling and bao highest in early June 2026, down to 60 % of that by late Sept. bao in a steamer basket
Coconut oil US searches for "coconut oil squishy" up 234 % in three months, 22,200 a month on average coconut oil fruit, 6 cm

Google Trends measures each type against its own best week. So 88 % means butter is close to its record. It doesn't tell you whether butter is bigger than crunchy, and we don't claim that.

Not sure what crunchy means? A crunchy squishy crackles when you squeeze it, and a coconut oil squishy has a thin skin around an oily filling. Our guide to the types of squishies shows all of them.

Careful

Crunchy squishies and anything with gel or oil inside are for kids from about 11. They must never be bitten or cut open, and heat is bad for them too. Younger kids do better with solid foam. Our age guide explains where that age comes from.

How big is the squishy boom right now?

Short videos seem to drive much of it. The hashtag #squishy had 73.9 billion views on TikTok when we checked on 26 October 2026. On 26 October 2026 the rounded "bought in past month" notes on the first Amazon.com results page for "squishy" added up to at least 444,000 units.

Market research points the same way. Circana reports that US toy sales grew 17 % in the first half of 2026, and that squishy sales more than doubled from January to April.

Coconut oil squishies show how we read the signals. US searches for the type rose 234 % over the summer and German ones 315 %. In October one coconut oil squishy video passed 9 million views. When search and video rise together, we take a trend seriously.

Which squishy animals are growing?

Highland cows and capybaras. On the wholesale platform Faire, searches for highland cow grew 219 % and capybara 198 % between 30 April and 28 July 2026, compared with the 90 days before. Axolotl followed with 170 %. Those are summer numbers. In late October Google still suggested highland cow squishies in the US and Australia and capybara squishies in Germany and France as you typed.

Ducks are searched even more in the US, 27,100 times a month on average, against 18,100 for highland cows. We just have no growth figure for ducks yet. In Germany "capybara squishy" is still small at 1,300 a month, but it grew 175 %. Our guide to the trending squishy animals explains how they differ.

What do people search for in other countries?

Mostly the English word. In France "squishy butter" and "butter squishies" were searched about 90,000 times in September 2026, the French "squishy beurre" only 8,100 times. Italy and Spain look the same.

Japan and Poland are different. Japan types スクイーズ (sukuīzu) around 450,000 times a month on average and "squishy" only 4,400 times. The Japanese word also just means "squeeze", so not every one of those searches is about toys. In Poland a squishy is often called "gniotek", and people search for it almost as often as for "squishy".

How we put these numbers together

Search volumes come from the Google Keyword Planner, as monthly averages from October 2025 to September 2026 or for September 2026 where we say so. The curves come from Google Trends over 12 months worldwide. Video views come from our own count of public squishy videos on TikTok and YouTube since June. Figures from Faire and Circana are what those sources published for the dates above.

A view is not a sale. Videos tell you what people watch and search data what they want, so we only trust a trend when both agree. The Planner shows very high values for "dumpling squishy" and "taba squishy" that we haven't confirmed with a second source yet. That's why the dumpling row uses Google Trends only.

FAQ

What is the most popular squishy in 2026?

No single number settles that. In our data dumplings were closest to their high in early summer, butter and crunchy in late September. If you want one that is popular right now, butter or crunchy is the safer pick.

Are these the viral TikTok squishies?

They are the same types you see in viral TikTok squishy videos, from butter sticks to crunchy fruit. They are not the exact pieces from one video. We don't sell branded or licensed squishies.

Is the squishy trend over?

Not yet. Worldwide searches were at 90 % of the September high when we checked on 26 October 2026. Each type moves on its own, so a calmer dumpling curve doesn't mean squishies in general are fading.

How fast can I get a trending squishy?

Delivery takes about 10 business days. Around Christmas it can take a little longer. Costs and countries are on our shipping page.
