Big shiny eyes and a curly little nose give this octopus squishy a slightly surprised look. Its head fades from orange at the top into deep blue, like a sunset over the sea.

Does the octopus squishy rise slowly?

Yes, it's a slow rising squishy. Press it flat and it comes back bit by bit. The maker doesn't say how many seconds that takes, so count for yourself next time you squash it.

Can it stand on its own?

It can. The curled legs spread out at the bottom like a little skirt and keep it upright. Wedge it between two books on a shelf and it stays put, grinning at the room.

What is it made of, and how big is it?

Here the maker stays quiet. The product data names no material and no size. We'd rather tell you that straight than guess a number.

Who would like the blue octopus?

Anyone who loves the sea and its odd creatures. It's a small gift for a kid's room or a cheerful face on an office desk. The same octopus also turns up in our slow rising sets.

More creatures from land and water live in our squishy animals.

A slightly damp cloth takes care of dust. Keep it out of strong sun and away from the radiator, and don't leave it squashed flat in a drawer.
